Must Buy Selections From Record Store Day Black Friday

Black Friday is the largest shopping event of the year and while most people are fighting over television sets at Walmart or designer bags at an outlet mall, some of the best deals are happening at your local record store. Record Store Day is celebrating its second date of 2016 on November 25th or Black Friday, by bringing limited released Vinyl, LP’s, and exclusive content to a record store near you. Wherever you may be this holiday season, stop by your neighborhood record store to check out some of the great releases this year.

Here at Crate Diggers, we love to share our vinyl enthusiasm and appreciation for physical releases with everyone so we thought we’d share some releases that we’re most excited about.

Run-D.M.C.
Christmas in Hollis

UGK featuring Outkast
Int'l Players Anthem (I Choose You)
Format: 12” Vinyl

One of the greatest southern hip-hop collaborations of all time brings together Houston, Texas, Atlanta, Georgia, and Memphis, Tennessee in one song to defy an entire era. Each verse on Int'l Players Anthem is as iconic as the rappers themselves, arguably being the best verses to ever be recorded. From Andre 3000’s acapella verse in the beginning leading to Pimp C’s aggressive tone as soon as the beat drops; the only thing greater than the song itself is to own it on vinyl. This Record Store Day release presses the classic single onto a 12” Texas-shaped and Texas Flag colored limited edition vinyl. It doesn’t get more southern than that!

Various Artists
The Wonder Years: Music From The Emmy Award-Winning Show and Its Era
Format: LP

Anyone who watched The Wonder Years — the hit TV drama from the late 80's and early 90's — likely remembers the music as much as any other aspect of the show. The soundtrack is truly unmatched, featuring artists like CSNY, Van Morrison, Buffalo Springfield, and Carole King. The album opens, of course, with Joe Cocker's memorable cover of The Beatles' "With a Little Help From My Friends", which also served as the show's theme song. Previously out of press since the initial 1989 release, the iconic soundtrack is finally coming back to vinyl with this limited edition reissue, pressed on colored vinyl exclusively for Record Store Day Black Friday.

The Wild Feathers
Live at the Ryman Auditorium
Format: 2 x LP

For Record Store Day Black Friday, The Wild Feathers release their first official live album. This 2-LP, vinyl set captures the band at their electric best during their triumphant, sold-out homecoming show at the fabled Ryman Auditorium on June 25, 2016, marking the final date of the tour in support of band’s acclaimed album Lonely Is A Lifetime.  See our interview with Taylor from the Wild Feathers here.
