Dallas favorites, Ishi, rang in the New Year at Trees last Sunday in Deep Ellum. The R&B/Soul duo of Keite Young and Robert Burt, known as Medicine Man Revival opened up the night, followed by the Oklahoma based indie band BRONCHO. They both set the stage and prepared the crowd for what was an electric way to start 2018. Curtains drew open to reveal Ishi frontman, JT Mudd and his band performing “Bring the Thunder” to get the crowd moving.

The electronic music with funk, soul, and folk influences flowed through the venue and pulled everyone to the dance floor. With glitter and confetti flying everywhere, it was exactly how you’d imagine the perfect New Year’s party. Trees had a packed crowd with an insane amount of energy the entire night. Ishi played songs from their albums Juno and Digital Wounds and closed out the show with “Slowly but Surely”. I can’t think of a more perfect way to bring in 2018 than with some of the best musicians Dallas has to offer.
