Sultry and alluring, Julia Jacklin left a lasting impression last Wednesday at the South Side Ballroom in Dallas, TX while on tour with FIrst Aid Kit, a Swedish folk duo consisting of sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg. Coming from a classical and pop-punk background Jacklin has developed her own sense of style with melancholic melodies and a distinctive voice that will make you both happy and sad simultaneously. The audience was quiet, intuitively listening to Jacklin’s spellbinding voice. Jacklin performed songs like “Pool Party” from her 2016 debut album Don’t Let The Kids Win and her 2017 single “Eastwick”.

Acting as a bit of a comedian, she said, “I don’t remember playing in Dallas until someone reminded me on Instagram. I’m not a drunk I just play a lot of shows.” Jacklin has had many milestones in her career. She was nominated for APRA Australian Song of the Year, Album of the Year at the Triple J Awards, featuring on NPR’s Tiny Desk Series, and selling out the Metro Theatre in Sydney - just to name a few. If you haven’t heard her striking sound, be sure to check out her album Don’t Let The Kids Win which is available on most music streaming platforms. You can also follow Julia Jacklin on twitter and Instagram to stay up to date on new music and announcements of future shows.
