Single Premiere: Kirk Thurmond & The Millennials - "Hangman"

We’re thrilled to have the honor of premiering the latest single from one of our favorite local bands Kirk Thurmond & The Millennials (KTAM). Their latest single, "Hangman", like many of Thurmond’s songs, draws inspiration from Michael Jackson, producers like Quincy Jones, and writers like David Foster and Rod Temperton. In the beginning of the single, the instrumentation immediately nods to Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel”. This subtlety highlights the sharp talent behind KTAM that draws you in from the beginning of a song with a familiar sound and hooks you with Thurmond's distinct vocals and songwriting ability.

"This song was a leap forward for me in a lot of ways”, explains Thurmond. “Musically, I've been trying to dig into what I naturally do as a producer, and it's turned out to be somewhere between the late 70's and early 90's. Which is an era of music I've always known, but wasn't sure I knew how to make. So you'll hear some Michael Jackson "Bad" vibes in there, that I've discovered come naturally to me.”

You can also check out KTAM performing this Saturday, August 25, at Granada Theater for Bands with Beto or at Champions Fest in Arlington, TX on September 1st.
