Welcome to "The Dig" our weekly rundown of our favorite things happening in music right now and a look ahead at what we are excited for this week.
This Wednesday the UNT art student, M3CCA is releasing her debut EP Fruittape. If you have never seen one of her shows before, she pulls from influences like Lauryn Hill & Erykah Badu with a deep house beat. The EP release is taking place at Deep Ellum Art Company with special guests Sudie and DJ Christy Ray. You don't want to miss this show!
Blues-rock group Falgoo is set to release its EP FALGOO in collaboration with punk rockers Dead Flowers on Nov. 4. The co-album release celebration will be at Three Links Deep Ellum on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 8 p.m.
A theme of "angst-filled love songs washed down with a good whiskey" shouts throughout the EP. Singer-songwriter and vocalist Ashley Falgout spent early mornings and late nights putting pen to paper as a way to work through the often harsh reality of modern romance and heartbreak. She cut her teeth in the local hip-hop scene writing licks for artists like Erron Lee and producer Jonathan Thomas aka Jay Analog (Cure for Paranoia) before partnering up with Corey Howe of Dead Flowers on production - his first venture into production is an impressive one!
Tales From The Tour Bus
A new country-music docuseries by Mike Judge premiered last month on Cinemax. The mastermind behind Silicon Valley, King of the Hill and Beavis and Butt-head began collecting the wildest, most hilarious stories about artists like Waylon Jennings, Johnny Paycheck and Jerry Lee Lewis and others he could from their friends and family and animating them. The best way to describe the show is that it's a 30 minute music documentary, filmed like an episode of King of the Hill. Check out a trailer for the show below.
